THE POSSIBILITY OF COOPERATION BETWEEN THE ORGANIZATION OF TURKIC STATES (OTS) AND SOUTH KOREA

Abstract:

This study aims to analyze the prospects for cooperation between the Organization of Turkic States (OTS) and South Korea. It examines the formation and evolution of the OTS while evaluating current diplomatic ties between Turkic states and South Korea, with a notable emphasis on relations between Uzbekistan and South Korea.

Furthermore, by investigating contemporary cooperation discourses alongside underlying institutional and policy frameworks, the research offers a comprehensive assessment of the degree to which OTS–South Korea engagement can be institutionalized and operationalized. Backed by interdisciplinary scientific research, the findings indicate that beyond widely cited linguistic, historical, and cultural affinity, the OTS and South Korea share multiple drivers for advancing substantive cooperation, including accumulated friendly diplomatic practice, tangible cultural exchanges, sustained high-level political interaction, and emerging formats such as "OTS+".
