MODERN WORLD AND THE PRIORITIES OF UZBEKISTAN’S FOREIGN POLICY

Abstract:

This article examines the transformation of the contemporary international system amidst a global polycrisis and analyzes the shifting priorities shaping the foreign policy of Uzbekistan 2026 within this turbulent landscape. The paper argues that the current phase of global politics is marked by the erosion of traditional multilateral institutions, escalating geopolitical fragmentation, and an increasing reliance on transactional power dynamics. Against this backdrop, Central Asia serves as an alternative model of pragmatic regional cooperation built on shared interests and an emerging regional identity, directly enhancing regional security in Central Asia.

The study highlights that Uzbekistan's multi-vector and proactive foreign policy represents a strategic response to global uncertainty, enabling the nation to diversify risks, attract investment, and reinforce its role as a regional connector. Key emphasis is placed on transport and logistical connectivity, energy diversification, critical minerals, and engagement within "C5+1" frameworks. Drawing upon interdisciplinary scientific research, the article concludes that Uzbekistan's mission in the emerging world order centers on acting as a stable, predictable partner and a bridge between regions, transforming its geographic location into a strategic asset.
